Nishanth Vimalesh

Software Engineer, Botkeeper

Nishanth Vimalesh is a machine learning engineer at Botkeeper, joining in July 2020 to work on AI-related projects that help improve and automate the various stages of bookkeeping. He is responsible for building systems for projects on the machine learning side, including generating key financial insights from customer data; extraction of data from various documents (such as bank statements, invoices); automated categorization of transactions; and automated matching of transactions. He focuses on new projects, as well as improving existing ML systems to enhance customer experience. Nishanth is passionate about continually exploring new advancements in AI & machine learning in order to build ML systems that significantly increase time savings for the accounting profession.

Nishanth earned a masters degree specializing in machine learning from North Carolina State University, where his research focus was on computer vision and natural language processing. For someone with an academic and research oriented background, it's been fruitful for him to work on real-world problems people face in the accounting profession, and focus on advancing the ML front at Botkeeper.

Apart from work, Nishanth enjoys traveling to new places. He also likes watching and playing tennis in his free time, especially trying to mimic Federer’s one-handed backhand.
